Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (cubed)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×9 inch baking dish or a similar sized casserole dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray to ensure nothing sticks.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with the lemon juice, cinnamon, and the 1/2 cup of salted caramel sauce. Ensure every apple slice is well-coated. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and sea salt. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the cold, cubed butter into the dry mixture. Continue until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs and the butter is evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apple filling. Place the dish in the center of the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. The topping should be golden brown and the apple juices should be bubbling around the edges.
- Remove the crisp from the oven and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. This allows the juices to thicken. Just before serving, drizzle a little extra salted caramel sauce over the top for a beautiful and delicious finish.
