Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pack (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 12 crispy chicken nuggets or breaded chicken tenders (cooked)
- 6 slices Pepper Jack cheese
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot or Sriracha)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- Pickle slices for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Use a long serrated knife to slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls connected. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the honey, hot sauce, and half of the melted butter. Whisk until smooth. If the honey is too thick, microwave the mixture for 15 seconds to help it blend easily. This sauce will provide the signature sweet and spicy flavor.
- Place the cooked chicken pieces on the bottom half of the rolls. Drizzle about half of your spicy honey sauce directly over the chicken. Layer the Pepper Jack cheese slices over the top of the chicken. Finally, place the top half of the rolls back on.
- Mix the remaining melted butter with the garlic powder and chopped parsley. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls. This ensures the buns get a beautiful golden color and a savory flavor while baking.
- Cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil to prevent the tops from burning. Bake for 10-15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the buns are slightly toasted. Serve warm with pickles inside or on the side.
- Cook Time: 35 minutes
