Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk, slightly warmed
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Begin by plugging in your waffle iron and setting it to the medium-high heat setting. Lightly coat the plates with non-stick cooking spray or a small amount of melted butter to prevent sticking.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Ensuring these are well-combined helps the waffles rise evenly during the cooking process.
- In a separate medium bowl, beat the eggs until they are light and frothy. Stir in the warm milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet mixture. Use a spatula or whisk to gently combine. Stop mixing as soon as the flour streaks disappear; a few small lumps are perfectly fine and help keep the texture light.
- Pour about 1/2 cup of batter (or the amount recommended by your iron’s manufacturer) onto the center of the hot waffle iron. Close the lid and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the steam stops rising and the waffle is golden brown and crisp.
- Carefully remove the waffle using a fork or silicone tongs. Repeat the process with the remaining batter. For the best texture, serve each waffle immediately as they come off the iron.
